E NJ HToC Finals

I would like to congratulate Universal Nutrition for winning the 1st E NJ Hooters ToC.
The scrappy little team from Hillsboro NJ who almost upset EFX in last years HToC single elim round played BIG all day!
Universal went 2 & 1 in their bracket beating Storm Formin (Jackson NJ) & Two Corners (Wayne NJ) only to lose their only game of the day to Cheeks Bar from Pemberton NJ.
The Single Elimination round went as follows.
Round 1 - Universal 9 vs. Miller Ford (Mt. Holly) 5
Round 2 - Universal 19 vs. Game Cocks (Cookstown) 7
Round 3 Semi- Universal 10 vs. Officer Down (Princeton) 9
Round 4 - Championship Game - Universal 12 vs. Pontoriero Law Firm (Sayerville) 8.
The rest of the Final 4.
Runner Up - Pontoriero Law.
Pontoriero went 3-0 in their bracket beating out Marchionis Pizza (Barnegat), EMS/Webb Softball (Medford) & AMX (Mt. Laurel).
Pontoriero played steller ball all day and was responsible for sending home 6 teams before they would finally fall to Universal Nutrition in the Championship Game.
Pontoriero single elimination round went as follows.
Round 1 - Pontoriero 10 vs. Storm Formin (Jackson) 9
Round 2 - Pontoriero 3 vs. First Class Tree Service (Medford) 2
R3 Semi Pontoriero 6 vs. Yak Attack (Toms River) 5
Finals - Pontoriero 8 vs. Universal 12
3rd Place Officer Down was the sleeper team of the E Hooters.
Officer Down started out beating Dadz (Lumberton) then Olde Queens Tavern (North Brunswick) only fall to a tough undefeated Dillon Steel from North Bergen NJ.
The Dillon Steel loss would be later be revenged in the 2nd Round of the Single Elim.
A nail bitter game both teams had chances to win. With the game all tied up in the bottom of the 7th Officer Down had runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. A sac fly would win the game but be denied as OD flew out to Dillion Steel's 2nd basemen for the second out. A third out ground ball to Dillons SS would end the inning.
8th inning both teams missed their chance to win the game as they both had runners in scoring position but failed to execute.
By this time word got out that we had a possible upset happening. Fans, Players, Umps and Directors flocked over to Field A as one of top favorites was in jeopardy of being eliminated by the unknown Officer Down.
The 9th inning started with a hit for DS but with back to back outs the pressure quickly turned on them. The next pitch would end the game and day for DS as they would hit a 4th Progressive HR to give OD the win and put them into the into the Final 4.
Its a tough loss losing the game on a HR but even tougher when you give the opposing team 10 runs. OD would only scored 1 run early in the game but that 1 run would later prove to be huge as it kept OD in the game for 9 innings.
Dillon is a great E team and the HTOC knows that this 1 day wont hold them back from future victories.
Officer Down Single Elimination round went as follows:
Round 1 Officer Down 4 vs. AMX (Mt. Laurel) 3
Round 2 Upset game of the day! Officer Down 11 vs. Dillon Steel (N. Bergen) 7.
R3 Semi Officer Down 9 vs. Universal Nutrition 10
3rd Place - Yak Attack
Bracket (2-1) Beating Barnegats Greentree Landscaping & No show Gershs Place/Dead Beats only to lose to the undefeated bracket winner First Class Tree Service from Medford NJ.
Round 1 Yak Attack 9 & Badass (Manalapan) 7
Round 2 Yak Attack 15 & Dietz Masonry (Woodbine) 7
R3 Semi - Yak Attack 5 & Pontoriero 6

Thank you all teams for playing in this tournament. Andy Dill & I worked hard to make sure everything ran smooth as possible despite the weather.
I would also like to thank all our NSA umps who did a great job yesterday. The feedback I get year after year about the umps is quite impressive.
Yesterday the umps showed all 24 teams that our NSA umps are some of the best in the business.
I look forward to seeing our Final 4 E teams battle some of the best C, D & E in the North East.
